Troubleshooting

The first thing to try for most boot or reboot issues is a clean power cycle. This can get the QT Py out of a stuck state. It's easy, so we'll try it first.

Start with a clean power cycle

If the power supply beeps and shuts off, disconnect power and check for a short before restarting.

  1. If a USB cable is connected to the QT Py, unplug the other end from your computer, USB hub, or power supply. The cable can stay plugged into the QT Py, as long as it isn't connected to a power source.

  2. Unplug the barrel connector between the power brick and the light.

  3. Wait at least 10 seconds, then reconnect the barrel connector. Leave USB power disconnected.

  4. The main LED should flash briefly and turn off. Wait a moment, then press the power button.

Check carriage tightness

Loose carriage wheels are one of the most common causes of power issues. If the carriage isn't snug against both rails, its pins may not make good contact with the power tracks. This can keep the light from turning on or cause it to cut out as you move it.

With power disconnected, check for rattle or play against both rails. If either feels loose, follow Check carriage tightness, then test the light again. The rails should still move easily; if there's no play, you don't need to keep tightening.
