Self-Sourcing Guide

The Self-Sourcing Guide helps you assemble the same set of components and prepared parts you would receive with an Open Task Light kit. Follow the sections below in order, then continue to the Printing and Assembly guides.

1. Choose your build

The Open Task Light can be built with either a freestanding base or a clamping base. Review the bill of materials for the parts and quantities required for your build.

2. Gather tools and supplies

Self-sourcing requires additional materials and equipment for printing, soldering, tapping, and part preparation. Review the additional tools and supplies before ordering.

3. Source and prepare your parts

Additional Printed Parts

Print the components that are normally supplied with the kit.

Custom Manufactured Parts

Order or manufacture the metal parts, circuit boards, and other custom components.

Manual Part Preparation

Prepare components that are not ready to use as purchased.

4. Check your work

Use the Pre-assembly Checklist to confirm that your self-sourced parts are prepared and ready before moving on to the main lamp prints.

5. Continue your build

Once your self-sourced parts are ready:

  1. Follow the Printing Guide to print the main lamp parts.

  2. Continue to the Assembly Guide to put it all together.
