Before you start: The Open Task Light is a challenging, hands-on project involving more than 20 printed parts, careful assembly, and thoughtful tuning. Think of your printer less like a magic part replicator and more like a tool to understand and occasionally wrangle. Expect to calibrate, inspect, and sometimes reprint parts to get the right fit and strength. If that kind of problem-solving sounds rewarding, you'll probably enjoy the build. You got this!
Use only in a dry, indoor environment. The Open Task Light is not water-resistant and must not be exposed to water, splashes, condensation, or other moisture. Dusty environments are also not recommended because dust can collect on the exposed power tracks and moving components.
This guide covers everything you need to build, assemble, and use an Open Task Light. Where you begin depends on whether you're building from a kit or sourcing all of the parts yourself.
